I know that many blog writers get their inspiration from everyday events – in fact on linkedin you can sometimes see tenuous links between a photo someone wants to post and a “business moral”, so when Dave and I swapped glasses just for fun and got this ridiculous picture it made me think “I wonder how many blog ideas I could have got from it? – I set myself the challenge of coming up with ten – and here they are. I came up with fourteen in the end – and some are contradictory!

- 1 – What image do you want to portray? Image is important!
- 2 – Details make a big difference – people judge you in the first few seconds when you meet them, (and are reluctant to change this first impression) – and things like glasses and shoes and hairstyle make a big difference even though the other person may not be aware of it, they may not know WHY they think what they do about you,
- 3 – It’s good to be different – and memorable,
- 4 – Don’t necessarily copy other people, or copy the fashionable trend – it may not suit you,
- 5 – Don’t be afraid to experiment – and don’t give up if the first change doesn’t work out,
- 6 – Changes sometimes feel uncomfortable to start with, but “fake it till you make it” and after a while the new you becomes the real you (this could apply to everything from different clothes to a new career)
- 7 – Sometimes you can’t judge a change immediately, you have to live with it for a bit before you can decide,
- 8 – Ask other people for an opinion – maybe everyone else sees you differently to the way you see yourself,
- 9 – It can be useful occasionally to try looking at the world with someone else’s perspective!
- 10 – People notice a lot less than you realise, so don’t worry too much about what they’ll think – you can shave off a beard and nobody will notice (or care!) so don’t sweat the small stuff.
- 11 – Be happy with yourself as you are,
- 12 – Change isn’t always good
- 13 – Don’t take yourself too seriously,
- 14 – Have fun in every situation, however busy or stressful you might be finding it.
So here’s a challenge for you – take a simple thing like the above, and see how many ideas you can spin off it…..
