My laptop isn’t really bright enough to use in hot sunshine, but that’s what I want to do. Call me mad but my idea of heaven is to sit in the sun and write stuff.
My kindle is great to view in the sun but there doesn’t seem to be any kindle-type-screen lap top available.
the nearest I have found is the Alphasmart Neo2 – which has been discontinued but you can get for £50 on ebay.
On the plus side it has massive battery life (maybe a year?) and about 5 lines of text that you can read in any light. however bright. I say ‘about’ because you can zoom in or out depending on how you like it. It’s very light for travel, and is instantly on. and you can have up to eight documents on teh go at one time. It has spell check, word count etc.
On the minus side it isn’t in colour and it doesn’t connect to the net. You get your writing off it by plugging in a USB wire and then the words all download into a word document on your computer. Very seamless and easy. So at least no distractions when writing. Though you’ll probably have your phone with you too!
