There are now three well-established ways for people to learn
- From a face to face trainer (expensive but powerful!)
- Zoom/Teams/live but over a screen (can be quite interactive, but can also be boring)
- Videos (“asynchronous”) – which you can watch on laptop or phone, at home or remotely, whenever you like, pause and watch again, but not interactive, and can be very boring if badly done.

How can we get the best of all three?
- Use a mixture
- Get GOOD ones!
- Be clever about the design, for example the disadvantages of videos can be overcome by:
- Keep people watching by having activities
- Be able to ask questions by having a zoom follow up with the author
- Follow up with someone from HR, or their line manager, asking them: what they have learned and how they will apply the lessons
- Make them tailored by having a maze where different videos come up depending on what answers people give or which options they choose
- Using a bot or AI to talk to them about what they have learned and how they will apply the lessons (it’s the future!)
