The number of times I’ve been told this! “Fasting!” “Cold water swimming!” “Baking your own bread!”
It made me think about how many fads I’ve seen in my long life, and how few of them have stood the test of time. Will we still be swimming in the freezing sea in 2050? Maybe!
Here’s a list of everything I can think of.
- What did I miss?
- How many were YOU into?
- Is it good to have done loads (keeping up with the fashion) or bad (fashion victim)?
- Which ones have stood the test of time for you?
In very approximate time order but not exactly:
- Home-brew
- Jogging -> marathons -> park runs
- Bread-makers -> sourdough baking
- MAMILs -> Peloton
- Drink 2 litres of water per day
- Fixies (bikes without gears or brakes)
- Topknots and man buns
- Vinyl is back!
- Meditation and Mindfulness (not the same), maybe with an app to help
- Wild swimming -> cold water sea swimming
- Microbreweries beer -> fancy gins
- Vapes
- Atkins (no carbs) -> Paleo -> 5/2 and fasting
- Labradoodles -> Cockapoos -> Frenchies -> Sausage dogs
- Air fryers
- what will be next?
