You need a better plan!

I’m so BORED with getting unsolicited junk that isn’t targeted. It’s lazy, it wastes your time and mine, and it annoys me.

.

Unresearched:

“Have you ever thought about writing a book?” – Yes, actually I’ve got 14 on amazon.

“Would you like a payroll system?” – No thanks – I don’t employ anybody.

“Could you give me a job?” – No I can’t – I don’t employ anybody.

“Your Udemy figures could be better” – Probably not, I’m number 1 in the world for negotiating and leadership, if you took the trouble to look.

.

Then there’s the same old “clever” approaches, like for example:

a) “I love what you’re doing…”

b) “…but your website / youtube channel could be SO much more effective”

c) “let’s jump on a call: Wednesday or Thursday?”

……

Or general ‘yes questions’ like:

“Would you like more customers?”

“I help people to scale” – anyone who says “scale” is immediately OUT

Just as anyone who says “jump on a call” is OUT

Full list of words that turn me off instantly here

.

Finally there are the coy approaches

  • just “Hello Chris”
  • or “Would like to collaborate” / “Have a proposal…”

Do you want to hire me, or to sell me something, or for me to sell something of yours, or for you to sell something of mine?? Any of these could be interesting, but if you can’t say what you are offering, right off, then that doesn’t look very promising does it?

.

Summing up:

You need a better plan if your current approach is

  • Cold, out of the blue
  • Predictable, same old approach and phrases that I get 100 times a day
  • Unclear, coy, vague
  • Wrong because you haven’t done your research

Yes you can email 10,000 people and burn through your list inefficiently, but you won’t convert anything of high value like that, and your list will run out.

Much better to be

  • targeted
  • do the research – at least spend 2 minutes looking at my website
  • a more unusual approach e.g. “I have found a way to use AI to….”
  • more specific, e.g. “I’ll pay you X amount to do Y”
  • better written – no typos, no cliches

I hope this helps your current marketing and your future business.
