I get asked if I’m going to make a series of podcasts – I could, I’ve got the material, the tech, and the ability to do it. Maybe not the time though! A weekly podcast series would be a big time commitment, and the question is “Would it be worth it?”
Other people also ask me if THEY should make a podcast series. And the question is “What do you want to achieve?”
I don’t think there’s either money or fame in podcasts –
Money: people expect them to be free so you can’t charge for them (unless you’re massively famous already perhaps) – and the advertising that I hear on other people’s podcasts sound pretty down market, I can’t see much income from that unless you’re getting millions of listeners
Fame: when you search for a subject rather than for “Chris Croft” the market is already so crowded it’ll be hard to get passing traffic. So even if you just want to make the world a better place, you won’t get much exposure – a youtube vlog is probably a better way to get your message out there.
But do they add to credibility? Maybe! But books add more I think.
And why not be on other people’s podcasts – I’ve done a bit of that, check out my list here https://www.chriscroft.co.uk/hear-chris-on-podcasts/
So I have no plans to make a podcast at the moment…..
